Servicing for all BMW M Series models

M cars use the same condition based servicing system as the rest of the BMW range, but with M-specific oil specifications and inspection points a general workshop can miss. Treat the CBS prompt as the latest acceptable point for an oil change rather than a target.

For street-driven M cars we recommend an oil service at the earlier of 10,000 kilometres or 12 months. Track use shortens that again, and brake fluid is worth doing annually rather than every two years if the car sees circuit time. M Performance models such as the M340i and X3 M40i sit between the standard BMW interval and the full M interval. Tell us how the car is used and we will set the schedule around it.

What a BMW M Series service includes

Every M service uses the oil specification BMW set for that engine, not a generic Longlife fill.

M-specific engine oil to BMW factory specification, including 10W-60 for S65, S85 and S63 engines
Engine oil and filter replacement
Engine air filter and cabin micro-filter replacement as required
Brake fluid service every two years, or annually for track-driven cars on request
Brake pad and disc measurement, including carbon ceramic inspection
Tyre wear inspection, since M cars go through tyres faster than a standard BMW

Frequently asked questions

How often should I service my BMW M car?

For street-driven cars, at the earlier of 10,000 kilometres or 12 months. Track-driven cars need it more often again, and we will set a schedule around how you actually use the car.

Do you use genuine M oil?

Yes. We use the oil specification BMW set for your engine and hold the common M grades in stock, including 10W-60 for S65, S85 and S63 engines.

Can you prepare my M car for a track day?

Yes. Pre-track inspections cover brake pad and disc condition, brake fluid, cooling system, tyres, fluid levels and suspension. We also carry out post-track checks once the car is back.

Do you work on modified M cars?

Talk to us first. Tunes, upgraded turbos and aftermarket cooling change what the car needs and what we can warrant, so we will be straight with you about what we will and will not take on.

Will an independent service affect my warranty?

No, provided the work follows BMW's schedule and uses quality parts. We update the Digital Service Booklet on every service so the record stays intact.
