Mercedes GLC
Service Specialist

The Mercedes GLC covers a lot of ground: the school run, the daily commute and weekend trips out of the city. Keeping it reliable comes down to servicing it on the right schedule, with the right equipment.

German Service Shop is an independent Mercedes-Benz specialist in North Melbourne. We service the X253 (launched 2015) and X254 (launched 2022) GLC across petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid models, including the AMG GLC 43 and GLC 63. We use XENTRY, the Mercedes-Benz diagnostic software, and quality parts that meet Mercedes-Benz specifications. Routine logbook servicing, fault finding, brake work, transmission servicing and repairs all happen in our workshop.

Servicing for all Mercedes GLC models

Mercedes-Benz Australia lists most of its passenger cars on a 12 month or 25,000 kilometre service interval, with Service A and Service B alternating. Some AMG models run a shorter 20,000 kilometre interval. The Mercedes-Benz app and your Mercedes-Benz account show the schedule for your car.

How the car is driven changes that. Short suburban trips, stop-start traffic and hard driving all shorten the real interval. Diesel cars need the AdBlue and exhaust treatment system checked alongside the service, and plug-in hybrid owners need the high-voltage battery and cooling circuit looked at regardless of the kilometres showing. Tell us how you use the car when you book and we will set the schedule to match.

Common Mercedes GLC issues we service

The GLC is well engineered, but a handful of components need attention with age or on certain cars. Catching them early stops a small job becoming a large one.
  • Camshaft adjuster and timing chain tensioner faults on the 2.0 litre petrol engine, which can show as a rattle on cold start
  • Thermostat faults causing slow warm-up or overheating
  • Transmission hesitation or rough shifting on the 9G-Tronic, which a software update has resolved on some cars
  • Brake squeal when reversing in cold weather
  • Uneven tyre wear and a harsh ride on cars fitted with run-flat tyres
  • Steering vibration reported by some X253 owners
  • Intermittent no-start with 12-volt system warnings, reported on early X254 cars
Every finding comes with the diagnostic scan data and photos behind it, so you can see what we saw.

Frequently asked questions

How often does a Mercedes GLC need servicing?

Every 12 months or 25,000 kilometres for most cars, with Service A and Service B alternating. Some AMG models run a 20,000 kilometre interval. We may recommend an earlier service if the car does mostly short trips or city driving.

Will servicing here void my Mercedes-Benz warranty?

No. Australian Consumer Law protects your right to use an independent workshop, as long as the servicing follows the Mercedes-Benz schedule and uses quality parts. We update the Digital Service Booklet on every service, so the record stays complete. Extended warranties sold by a dealer can carry their own servicing terms, so check yours before you book.

What is the difference between Service A and Service B?

The two packages alternate. Service A covers a set of checks. Service B covers the same checks plus components related to safety and ease of use. The exact work depends on your model and equipment, and we confirm the scope when you book. Our Service A and B guide explains the detail.

Do you service the plug-in hybrid and AMG GLC?

Yes. Plug-in hybrids need the high-voltage battery, cooling circuit and charging system checked on top of the standard inspection items. AMG models can run a shorter interval, and we confirm the interval for your car when you book.

Does my GLC have an open recall?

Mercedes-Benz has recalled GLC models in Australia for faults including seatbelts, an airbag control unit connector and headlights. Enter your vehicle identification number (VIN) on the Australian Government's vehicle recalls site, vehiclerecalls.gov.au, to check. A Mercedes-Benz dealer carries out recall work.

Where are you located?

Really happy with the service I received here. The guys took time to explain everything clearly and kept me informed throughout the process. It’s also great having a workshop that specialises in European cars, as I felt confident it was in the right hands. No mess around, no surprises and good communication from start to finish. Would definitely recommend.
