There’s nothing better than heading off on a great Aussie road trip. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend time with your family, your partner, your dog or maybe just you and your machine! The last thing you want, however, is to set off on your big journey, drive for a couple of hours and realise that you’ve forgotten something important. So, let’s try to prevent that situation in this post – this is our essential road trip checklist.
Safety items ‘Safety first’ is one of our biggest tips when it comes to road trips. Make sure you’ve got plenty of items that will guarantee your safety – things like first aid kits, hand sanitiser, aspirin, hydration tablets and plenty of water.
Clothes
It’s important to dress appropriately for your road trip and to take an ample amount of clothes. This doesn’t mean packing a suitcase as if you were going to Iceland for three months, but it doesn’t mean bringing nothing but a t-shirt and shorts either. Pack according to the weather and don’t forget to bring something to sleep in.
Technology accessories
Don’t forget your phone charger, your laptop charger or your battery pack. If you’re planning to write a few emails on your trip, you’ll be doomed if you leave these behind.
Spare tyre – make sure it’s pumped up.
Almost every car has one, but what would be the point if you have a flat tyre and your spare isn’t pumped up? Fill your spare tyre with air before you head off on your road trip and make sure you’ve got the necessary tools to change a tyre.
Car fluids
It’s always a good idea to take some oil, radiator coolant and transmission fluid on your road trip. You probably won’t need to use it, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Toiletries
Make a list of all the toiletries you can’t live without. Toothbrush, toothpaste, sunscreen, deodorant, baby wipes, floss – chuck them all in a bag and take them with you.
Sunglasses
It may seem obvious, but it’s a massive dad move to head off on your road trip and then realise you forgot your sunnies when it gets a little brighter. Then, you’ll start slapping the steering wheel and cursing the fact you forgot them. Bring your sunnies, and if you’re famous for losing them, bring a spare pair.
